Well, here you are looking to find some more information about what ADHD feels like. I wish I could describe this in a way everyone reading this could say “Ahha, that is it!” But the thing is, ADHD feels different for everyone. Most people describe their symptoms using words like distracted, overwhelmed, lost, etc.
But for those with classic symptoms of ADHD, they say that they experience the following:
- Difficulties regarding attention to detail
- Sustaining attention is impossible
- Difficulty paying attention when they are spoken to
- Organizing skills are poor
- Avoid tasks which require increased mental effort
- Loses things often,
- Distracted by external stimuli
- Forgetful even on daily activities.
And all the above is JUST ONE subsection of ADHD. Ugh, I know!
The problem is, is that everything in life tends to steal energy from our mental resources. Because of this, our concentration skills seem to be the first to get effected by life circumstances. As a result it feels like you may have ADHD when you do not. This is why it is important to have a really great understanding what is interfering with your concentration.
The best thing to do when you think you may have ADHD is to talk with your doctor or therapist and let them help you decide whether or not additional consultation could help.
