What to Expect With ADHD Testing at Kalamazoo ADHD
Intake Interview
In this initial session, we obtain information regarding your medical/psychological history, discuss insurance, schedule appointments, and identify specific questions we hope to answer through testing. This takes approximately 45 minutes. Children under the age of 12 do not need to attend this session.
Testing Session(s)
During the testing session, we collect objective data regarding your cognitive and emotional functioning. This often includes tasks in the form of puzzles, questionnaires, and interactive tasks to challenge your abilities. Please ask if medication should be used on the day of testing.
Results Session
During the testing session, we will review the data obtained during the testing session(s). More importantly, we will discuss the implications of this data, and any diagnoses given, and recommendations based on that as well. This will typically last one hour.
The goal of testing is to answer specific questions regarding any particular difficulties you may have. Most often, we are able to establish a sound course of intervention based on the data obtained. In some instances though, additional testing may need to be conducted to further refine diagnostic hypotheses.
Please be sure to review billing procedures as well.
Hi, I'm Dr. Chris Barnes
Life is hard! And to make that more complicated, change can be scary. But it doesn’t have to be. I believe that we humans spend far too much time and energy focusing on events where we have zero control…what a waste. My job as a therapist is to help focus energy into productive and dynamic outlets where we find more return on our energy investment.
